Dairy Manufacturers Inc., a Texas-based company, has initiated a voluntary recall of its infant formula products available in the US due to non-compliance with federal regulations. The recall affects all lot codes for infant formulas, including Crecelac Infant 0-12, Farmalac 0-12 and Farmalac 0-12 Low Lactose at the wholesale and retail level.

The company says that the products were sold only in Texas at retail level.

“Products were sold only in the state of Texas at retail level,” said Dairy Manufacturers Inc. in its announcement Friday.

The action comes after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) identified that the products were sold without meeting the necessary requirements under section 21 CFR 106.110 concerning new infant formula registration.

The FDA requires a premarket notification for infant formulas.

The recalled infant formulas are packaged in 12.4 oz cardboard and aluminum cans, with expiration dates of August and September 2025. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged to discontinue use immediately and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

To date, no illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported in connection with the recalled products.

Dairy Manufacturers Inc. expressed apologies for any inconvenience or concern caused by the recall and said it is taking necessary steps to ensure the safety and compliance of its products.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or concern this may cause and assure our customers that we are taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety, quality, and compliance of our products,” the company said in its announcement.

The company also provided a contact number for consumers with questions regarding the recall – 1-972-347-2341 (Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST).

This recall is conducted with the knowledge of the FDA, which continues to oversee the safety and quality of food products. Parents and caregivers are advised to seek alternative infant formulas that comply with FDA regulations and to consult healthcare providers if they have concerns about their child’s health.

The recall highlights the importance of regulatory compliance in the food industry, especially concerning products intended for infants. It serves as a reminder for manufacturers to adhere strictly to food safety standards to protect public health.
