Video of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot in NYC released (not showing)
In a shocking incident, Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was fatally shot in midtown Manhattan early Wednesday morning. A footage of the shooting has been released, but we are not showing that here out of respect for the victim and his family.
The UnitedHealthcare issued a statement on “the passing of our dear friend and colleague,” posting on X that they were working closely with the New York Police Department (NYPD).

Earlier, the NYPD held a press conference where Commissioner Jessica Tisch provided details about the attack.
“It appears the suspect was lying in wait for several minutes, and as the victim was walking to the conference hotel, the suspect approached from behind and fired several rounds, striking the victim at least once in the back and at least once in the right calf,” Commissioner Tisch said.
The suspect deliberately waited for his intended target, allowing many people to pass by without incident. After the shooting, the suspect fled first on foot, then on an e-bike, and was last seen in Central Park on Center Drive early this morning.
Thompson was in New York City to speak at an investor conference. He was taken to Roosevelt Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Commissioner Tisch expressed condolences to Thompson’s family, friends, and colleagues, stating that they are in their thoughts and prayers.
The NYPD is vigorously investigating the incident and calls on the public for assistance. “The full investigative efforts of the New York City Police Department are well underway, and we will not rest until we identify and apprehend the shooter in this case,” Tisch emphasized. The police have increased the reward for information leading to an arrest in this case to $10,000.
Commissioner Tisch reiterated that this was a premeditated, targeted attack. She assured the public that the NYPD will be out in force to ensure safety during the holiday events, including the tree lighting.
