Walmart to host another live stream shopping event on TikTok

Multinational retail corporation Walmart has announced that it is going to host another live stream shopping event on video-sharing social networking service TikTok. The event called “Spring Shop-Along: Beauty Edition” will take place on Thursday at 9 PM EST on Walmart’s TikTok channel.

In December last year, Walmart brought a shoppable live stream experience to US TikTok users for the very first time, enabling the TikTok community to enjoy shopping while engaging with its favorite creators. Walmart says that it netted seven times more views than anticipated and grew its TikTok followers by 25% during that event.

“Once again, we will give the TikTok community the chance to shop live for items featured in creator content directly in the app, without having to leave the platform,” says a blog post by Walmart US chief marketing officer William White. “The “Spring Shop-Along: Beauty Edition” live stream shopping event will be an all-new experience featuring new creators and shoppable items.”

One of those creators is Gabby Morrison, who has over 3.5 million followers and 177.2 million likes on TikTok.

Revealing their favorite Walmart beauty picks, the creators will demo their hair, makeup and skincare routines using the revealed items.

Viewers can buy from a variety of private, national and black-owned beauty brands like The Lip Bar, Marc Jacobs fragrances, NYX, Kim Kimble, Maybelline and Bliss.

Viewers can add items to their carts with the tap on any product pin and check out during or after the event.

“We will continue to bring more shopping experiences to TikTok in the coming months by partnering with creators to highlight different products via different formats,” says the blog post. “We are excited to test, learn and iterate on what’s best for users as we innovate and chart new territory in social commerce.”

Forced by orders of former US President Donald Trump in August last year, TikTok considered selling the US portion of its business and held meetings with organizations including Walmart, Microsoft and Oracle.
