Kate Hudson to be honored at Outstanding Mother Awards 2020

Golden Globe Award winner and Academy Award nominee Kate Hudson will be honored at the 42nd Annual Outstanding Mother Awards in New York on May 7.

Hudson is also the co-founder of lifestyle brand Fabletics. She will be one of the six women who will be recognized at the 2020 awards ceremony.

The other five ladies include Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie, co-anchors of NBC News’ “TODAY;” Marigay McKee, managing partner at Fernbrook Capital; Ellen Alemany, chairwoman and CEO of CIT and Gail Tifford, chief brand officer of WW.

The six women from the worlds of journalism, film, finance, retail and wellness will have the central roles they take on as leaders, mentors, caregivers, parents and people who have a positive impact on their communities recognized by the award, which will be held at The Pierre Hotel.

Proceeds from the awards luncheon will go to Save the Children’s US Programs and Advocacy. The nonprofit organization works to break the cycle of poverty and better the lives of children.

2015 Outstanding Mother Award Honoree Joanna Coles, executive producer of ABC Freeform’s “The Bold Type,” will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies.

Kate Hudson won an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe Award in the Best Supporting Actress category for her career-making performance in 2000 comedy-drama movie “Almost Famous.” She has appeared in about 25 other films over her career.

The actress co-founded Fabletics in 2013. She has also launched a vodka brand, King St, and a ready-to-wear clothing line called Happy x Nature. She has written two best-selling books, Pretty Happy and Pretty Fun.

The Outstanding Mother Awards are conferred by the National Mother’s Day Committee, which is an entity of the Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council.

Laurie Dowley, chairwoman of the National Mother’s Day Committee, said, “The women being recognized this year embody the strength and values of mothers who are leaving a positive mark in their communities, professions and family life.”

She added, “The Mother’s Day Council has been honoring the achievements and dedication of hardworking mothers for more than 40 years, and we are thrilled to be celebrating this prestigious group of industry leaders at our annual event.”

Past “Outstanding Mother” honorees have included Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Katie Couric, Meryl Streep, Vera Wang and Caroline Kennedy.
