Skydance announces new TV president

Skydance Media, the diversified media firm founded by David Ellison in 2010 to produce event-level, quality entertainment for global audiences, has announced that Bill Bost has been promoted to the position of president of television in the company.

The company, which produces content across its feature film, television, interactive and animation divisions, launched its television department in 2013.

Bost, a nine-year studio veteran, will now supervise all aspects of the television arm and the studio’s wide-ranging lineup of television series across all streaming, cable and broadcast platforms.

Skydance Television’s current slate includes Emmy-nominated “Grace and Frankie” and, again, Emmy-nominated “Altered Carbon” (Netflix), “Jack Reacher” and Tom Clancy’s “Jack Ryan” (Amazon), “Foundation” (Apple TV+) and “Condor” (AT&T Audience Network).

Dana Goldberg, Skydance’s chief creative officer, said in a press release, “Bill is an integral member of the Skydance executive team, and I’m thrilled to announce his well-deserved promotion.”

She added, “Beginning with ‘Grace and Frankie,’ Bill’s oversight and creative contributions to our slate of original television series have been extraordinary. He’s an exceptional executive with strong industry relationships and an eye for fresh talent that will propel Skydance Television to even greater success.”

Bost commented, “It’s been the opportunity of a lifetime to be a part of Skydance from the beginning and I’m honored to be leading a team that creates great storytelling across all genres in television. It’s an incredible time to be a content creator, and I’m excited to continue to build on the TV studio’s success as we expand and develop our slate of premium series at this pivotal time.”

Most recently, Bost served as senior vice president of television at Skydance Television. During his tenure at the department, he was responsible for overseeing the Jane Fonda- and Lily Tomlin-starring “Grace and Frankie.”

The Netflix series was recently renewed for a seventh season, becoming the longest running series of the streamer.

Bost also oversaw the Anthony Mackie-starring “Altered Carbon,” which premieres its second season on Netflix February 27, and the Lee Pace- and Jared Harris-starring upcoming epic drama “Foundation.” Moreover, Bost was responsible for overseeing several shows in development.

At Skydance, Bost started his career as the executive assistant to CEO and founder Ellison, working closely on award-winning and blockbuster movies including “Jack Reacher,” “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” “World War Z” and ” G.I. Joe: Retaliation.”

Recent movies of Skydance’s feature film division include “6 Underground,” “Terminator: Dark Fate,” “Mission: Impossible–Fallout” and “Gemini Man.” The upcoming movies include “The Old Guard,” “Top Gun: Maverick,” the upcoming seventh and eighth installments of the “Mission: Impossible” film series and “The Tomorrow War.”

Prior to Skydance, Bost worked with producer Debra Martin Chase at Disney and curated an assortment of documentaries for the Documentary Channel/Pivot. He started his entertainment career at Ivan Reitman’s The Montecito Company.
