Trailer, new stills for Eddie Murphy, Pete Davidson starrer ‘The Pickup’ dropped
After releasing new stills and final trailer for John Cena-starring action-comedy “Heads of State” last week, Amazon MGM Studios brings yet another dose of action-comedy, unveiling a handful of new high-octane stills and the official trailer for Eddie Murphy- and “SNL’s” Pete Davidson-starring “The Pickup” — set to hit Prime Video globally on August 6.
The studio served up the news today via its film promotional material distribution service, inviting press members to catch and share with their readers and audiences the first glimpse of what promises to be a riotous pairing of comedy legends and rising stars.
In “The Pickup,” two armored-truck drivers — veteran Russell (Murphy) and rookie Travis (Davidson) — find their routine cash pickup spiraling into chaos when they’re ambushed by a crew of ruthless criminals. Leading the heist is mastermind Zoe (Keke Palmer), whose ambitions run far beyond seizing the day’s earnings. As rubber bullets fly and loyalties are tested, Russell and Travis must put aside their clashing styles — old-school grit versus new-wave bravado — to survive one very, very bad day.
Directed by Tim Story (“The Blackening;” “Barbershop;” “Ride Along”), the film promises “heart-pounding thrills, sharp comedy and unexpected mishaps” that lean on both veteran know-how and fresh energy. The ensemble cast — rounded out by Eva Longoria, Marshawn Lynch, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, Andrew Dice Clay and Ismael Cruz Córdova — underscores the film’s commitment to diverse voices in big-budget laughs.
