Joe Goldberg returns for one last dance in ‘You’ season 5, premiering April 24
The season 5 and final chapter of Netflix’s psychological thriller “You” is set to premiere on April 24 at 3:00 a.m. EDT — bringing viewers back to where it all began: New York City. But in typical “You” fashion, this homecoming is anything but serene.
Penn Badgley returns as Joe Goldberg, the dangerously magnetic figure whose obsessive behavior has sparked chaos and violence on an international scale. Now married to billionaire CEO Kate Lockwood — played by Charlotte Ritchie — Joe is determined to settle into a picture-perfect life. But as ghosts from his past resurface and his inner compulsions claw their way to the surface, any hope for normalcy begins to unravel.
Returning to the fray are familiar figures: Griffin Matthews as Kate’s loyal half-brother Teddy; Anna Camp, in dual roles as the Lockwood twins — Reagan, the cunning sister with her eyes on Kate’s CEO seat, and Maddie, the more subdued sibling often overshadowed and undermined by Reagan; Michael Dempsey as the stoic Buffalo Bob Cain, a strategic pillar in Kate’s corporate circle; and Pete Ploszek as Harrison Jacobs, Reagan’s husband and father to their daughter, Gretchen.
Per Tudum — “Netflix’s official site made for and dedicated to fans” — via Netflix’s Media Center, season 5 also welcomes a roster of new characters certain to complicate matters. Madeline Brewer joins the cast as Bronte, a bookstore worker who draws Joe’s interest, while Tom Francis portrays her former partner, Clayton, whose arrival threatens to stir conflict. Michelle Hurd takes on the role of Dr. Val, a psychologist linked to Joe’s son, Henry. Meanwhile, Natasha Behnam’s Dominique and b’s Phoenix bring vibrancy to Joe’s new social sphere, while Nava Mau’s Detective Marquez zeroes in with piercing questions. Heidi Gardner rounds out the cast as Kim Kramer, an influencer with a nose for a good story — and perhaps something more.
As the series prepares its final curtain call, the question lingers: can Joe outrun himself?
