Galaxy S10, Note10 get S20 features
Samsung has rolled out a new US software update that brings select camera features of its latest flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S20, to the previous flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S10, and the previous phablet, the Note10.
Starting today, all S10 and Note10 devices can be updated to take advantage of the advanced photo and video tools, new intelligent Gallery and easy sharing capabilities of the S20.
On Samsung.com, the S10 is now available $150 cheaper. Moreover, consumers can take advantage of further savings of a direct credit of $160 or more with a trade-in for a limited time (terms and conditions apply). The Note10 is also available on the website under a deal – an instant credit of $220 or more with eligible exchange (limited time offer and the terms and conditions apply).
The advanced photo and video tools include:
- Single Take, which makes use of several lenses and camera features – such as slow-mo, telephoto, ultra wide and more – to shoot an assortment of videos and photos without delay, and draws on artificial intelligence to recommend the best video or photo,
- Night Hyperlapse, which captures enhanced low-light photos,
- Improved Night Mode, also for quality photos in low light,
- My filters, which allows for choosing a photo and use it to create a unique filter with a selection of styles and colors, and then apply it to a new photo when it is taken, to get the matching appearance,
- Pro Video, which enables manual control over settings like exposure level, shutter speed and ISO, and
- Front and Rear Video Recording, which allows for switching between front and rear cameras while recording video.
With the new intelligent Gallery, the updated S10 and Note10 get 1) Clean View, which automatically groups together similar photos of the same subject – like pets, family, landscapes and more – for a more organized gallery, allowing for the selection of a favorite one as the group’s thumbnail and 2) Quick Crop, which allows for zooming in on a photo in the Gallery and cropping it to any size.
The Easy Sharing Capabilities the updated S10 and Note10 get include 1) Quick Share, which displays which contacts are in close proximity and enables sending videos, photos and even large files to several contacts at the same time and 2) Music Share – for when the updated device is connected via Bluetooth to portable speaker or a car stereo, its connection can be extended to someone else to make them the DJ, instead of having to disconnect the device so someone else can pair theirs and take a turn as DJ.
