Bernie Sanders: Campaign raises $34+m in Q4

US Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has announced that his presidential campaign raised $34.5 million from 1.8 million donations in the fourth quarter of 2019.

The photo using which the news was shared the second time on the official Bernie Sanders Facebook page also has “No billionaires, no super PAC just people power” written on it.

With the photo post, Sanders wrote, “We are proving that we — US — are far more powerful than the 1 percent have ever imagined. Thank you for being a part of this political revolution.”

Just one hour earlier, Sanders’ Facebook page had shared a TheGuardian.com article breaking this news. Sanders wrote with that post, “I’m incredibly proud to announce we raised $34.5 million from 1.8 million contributions in the fourth quarter. Our average contribution: just $18. Together, we’re proving you don’t need to beg the wealthy and the powerful for campaign contributions in order to win elections. We are proving that when you run a campaign that speaks directly to the needs of working people and young people, they are ready to fight with you.”

Earlier in the day, the page shared a commondreams.org article sharing that Sanders’ campaign had achieved the fundraising milestone of 5 million individual contributions. Sanders wrote with that post, “Today, I am very proud to share with you some extraordinary news: our campaign has received more than 5 million individual contributions — that is more contributions than any campaign has received at this point in a presidential election in the history of our country.”

He added, “For far too long, the economic and political systems have been stacked against ordinary Americans. The rich get richer because they use their wealth to buy our candidates and our elections. Meanwhile, more and more working people become demoralized and choose not to participate in the political process.”

He further wrote, “What we are proving on this campaign is that one does not need to beg the wealthy and the powerful for campaign contributions in order to win elections.”
