Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne introduces acts to address illegal immigration, sanctuary cities
Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne (R-Texas-24) has recently put forward proposals for two new acts: the Voter Eligibility Verification Act (VEVA) and the No Congressional Funds for Sanctuary Cities Act (NCFFSCA). These proposals for acts by Beth Van Duyne aim to counteract what she describes as Democratic efforts to flood the nation with illegal immigration.
Rep. Van Duyne criticized the border policies implemented by Democratic leadership over the past three and a half years, claiming they have compromised national safety and election security. She pointed to sanctuary city mayors who refuse to enforce immigration laws and Washington, D.C. officials who unlawfully withhold citizenship data from states as examples of this disregard.
In a post on social media platform X, the congresswoman said city mayors will have to help federal law enforcement deport criminals.
City leaders MUST work [with] federal law enforcement to turn dangerous criminals over for deportation. Thank God for @RealTomHoman, who will do his job regardless of political pressure from the Left, and put the safety of Americans first. pic.twitter.com/0BY3TOPAaN

Tom Homan is President-elect Donald Trump‘s “border czar,” per the president-elect’s announcement on his own social media platform, TruthSocial, last month.
The VEVA mandates that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) must respond to state requests for citizenship data within 30 days.
Rep. Van Duyne said in a press release, “Texas sought essential data from USCIS to verify voter citizenship and clean up voter rolls, but USCIS did not respond, leaving Texas unable to ensure only eligible voters could participate.”
She added that the VEVA “will address the issue by requiring USCIS to respond to state inquiries within 30 days. I will continue collaborating with state leaders to provide the necessary tools to safeguard our elections.”
The NCFFSCA aims to block the use of federally-allocated community project funds in cities with sanctuary policies. These policies include laws, ordinances, regulations or practices that hinder immigration enforcement or mask individuals from Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Rep. Van Duyne further said, “President Trump’s deportation plan relies on cooperation from local law enforcement and sanctuary city policies compromise those efforts,” adding, “My proposal to withhold community project funds from sanctuary cities would pressure local governments to allow greater cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.”
Congressman Dan Crenshaw (TX-02) joined Congresswoman Van Duyne in introducing the VEVA.
Rep. Van Duyne on Thursday initiated a new campaign to deport criminal aliens by empowering Texas mayors and local law enforcement to collaborate with ICE. The NCFFSCA aims to hold Texas cities accountable if they refuse to cooperate with ICE to protect their residents.
Don’t mess with North Texas!
Today, I launched a new effort to empower our mayors and local law enforcement to work with ICE to deport criminal illegal immigrants from our cities. MORE: https://t.co/GQiWac7mD1
