NRA, GOA advocate for Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act
The National Rifle Association (NRA) and Gun Owners of America (GOA) are rallying support for the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act to allow Americans to legally carry their guns when visiting other states.
The NRA recently posted on X, applauding Representative Richard Hudson (R-NC-9)’s efforts to ensure individuals have the right to self-defense, whether at home or traveling across the country.

Senator Thom Tillis, also for North Carolina, along with 43 Republican Senate colleagues, introduced the act in the Senate.
Senator Tillis said in a press release his office issued just today, “As a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, I’m proud to introduce the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act.”
He added, “This commonsense legislation ensures that law-abiding citizens can exercise their constitutional right to carry concealed firearms across state lines while respecting the laws of each state. This legislation is a critical step in protecting the right of self-defense for Americans, no matter where they travel.”
The legislation aims to “allow individuals with concealed carry privileges in their home state to exercise those rights in any other state that allows concealed carry, while still adhering to that state’s laws.”
The legislation seeks to treat state-issued concealed carry permits similarly to drivers’ licenses, allowing individuals to carry in other states while following those states’ regulations. It does not establish a national standard for concealed carry, thus preserving state sovereignty.
The legislations is endorsed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) as well as the NRA and GOA.
