Marjorie Taylor Greene Town Hall Disruptions: Congresswoman further responds, police provide details

A Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene town hall in her Georgia district drew national headlines when videos showing one protestor getting tased by the police and then arrested and another being forcefully removed also by the police started making rounds on social media.

At the end of the event, the congresswoman briefly talked to members of the press and has now issued a detailed statement.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Rep. Greene defended the police response at the event, stating, “The GREAT police officers conducted themselves in textbook fashion and protected every single person there by keeping the peace.”

She described some attendees as “deranged and aggressive,” and said they “lost control of themselves the second the townhall started.”

Greene also criticized media coverage of the incident, referencing one headline that read, “Man tased at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s townhall,” and contrasted it with hypothetical coverage had the event been hosted by a Democrat.

“If this had been a Democrat townhall, the headlines on national news would have been things like; ‘DERANGED MAGA INSURRECTION AT DEMOCRAT TOWNHALL!’,” she contrasted.

She also stated, “We have tons of video footage that absolutely proves the protestors were unruly and fighting and resisting police.”

In a separate post prior to that, after talking to the press at the end of the town hall, Greene wrote, “I’m not intimidated by the Democrats who tried to shut down my town hall tonight,” adding that she refused to tolerate what she called “selfish attempts to disrupt an event that was for all of my constituents, not just the ones who could make the most noise.”

She concluded by saying such issues “should be handled at the voting booth.”

The Acworth Police Department has also issued a Public Information Release dated April 16, 2025 (today), detailing its response to disruptions at the Marjorie Taylor Greene town hall. In the Release, the police department confirmed that three individuals were arrested and two of them were tased.

“Three individuals were arrested, two of them requiring tasers to be deployed in the process,” says the Acworth Police Department’s Public Information Release, adding that approximately six other town hall attendees were removed “without issue.”
