Likely after backlash, MSNBC edits controversial title of article about sentencing of Laken Riley’s killer
Apparently in response to significant backlash on social media, MSNBC appears to have revised the controversial title of an article about the sentencing of Laken Riley’s killer.
The original headline, “Laken Riley’s killer never stood a chance,” faced criticism for its perceived sympathetic tone towards Jose Antonio Ibarra, the individual responsible for the crime.
Public figures and social media users alike condemned the headline, arguing that it inappropriately shifted focus away from the victim and towards the perpetrator.
Prominent figures, including Donald Trump Jr. and Senator Mike Lee, were vocal in their disapproval, calling for more sensitive and victim-focused reporting.
You literally can’t make up this level of depravity. These people are sick. The guy is a murderer. He’s an illegal alien that killed an innocent young woman but MSNBC would rather go to bat for him.

MSNBC responded by changing the headline to better reflect the main point of the article.
The new title of the MSNBC article reads, “The guilt of Laken Riley’s killer was never in doubt.”
