US, France report 1000+ COVID-19 deaths in 24 hrs.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reports in its latest Daily Situation Report on coronavirus disease (COVID-19) that the United States and France reported the most number of COVID-19 deaths in 24 hours by Sunday at 10:00 Central European Summer Time (1:00 PDT), with both countries reporting over 1000 deaths.

In the last 24 hours, the US reported 1166 deaths, while France, 1053.

The total number of COVID-19 deaths in the US now stands at 7,020, while France has reported 7,546 deaths.

With an increase of 32,105 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in a day (from Saturday morning to Sunday morning), the total number of confirmed cases in the US now stands at 2,73,808.

Thanks to new rapid tests and high-volume testing machines, COVID-19 testing in the US has increased following an inept rollout, with about 100,000 tests being processed daily, according to US News & World Report.

France reported 4221 new confirmed cases in the last 24 hours. The country’s total number of confirmed cases now stands at 67,757 after 224,254 tests as of April 2.

Spain reported the third highest number of COVID-19 deaths in the 24-hour period – 809. The total number of deaths in the country now stands at 11,744. With an addition of 7,026 new confirmed cases in a day (from early Saturday to early Sunday), Spain’s total number of confirmed cases has increased to 1,24,736.

The United Kingdom saw 708 new deaths in 24 hours, with the number of total deaths in the country now standing at 4313. New confirmed cases reported by the UK from early hours of Saturday to early hours of Sunday are 3735, with the total number of confirmed cases in the country now rising to 41,907.

Italy reported 681 new deaths in the 24-hour period. The country has reported the most number of COVID-19 deaths in the world – 15,362. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Italy has risen to 1,24,736. In the last 24 hours, the country reported 7026 new confirmed cases.
