RBC offers cardholders more perks as Canada reopens

Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) announced on Friday more perks for its eligible credit and debit cardholders under a new campaign called Time for More, which is, said the bank, is designed for Canadians to enjoy shopping/eating out at their favorite businesses/restaurants again.

With rising vaccination rates, most Canadian provinces and territories are fast reopening, and Canadians seem to be in the mood to enjoy life to the fullest again.

A Bromwich+Smith survey, reports 660citynews.com, found that 46% of Canadians “plan to dine out a lot;” 40% want to book experiences like white water rafting, camping or staying in a cottage/cabin; one in five want to party as if it’s the end of the last millennium; 18% are eager to shop and 15% are immediately going to book their next vacation.

RBC Cards, Payments & Banking executive vice president Sean Amato-Gauci said in a press release, “We know many Canadians are excited to get back to shopping and dining at their favourite stores and restaurants and businesses have been anticipating their return.”

He added, “Last summer, Points for Canada offered our RBC Rewards clients millions of dollars in savings and benefits and helped provide a much needed boost to local businesses and economies. With Time for More, we’re building on this momentum by rewarding more of our clients and teaming up with more businesses to help our country come back strong.”

The perks that RBC’s eligible cardholders can enjoy include saving of up to 25% in points when points are redeemed for select gift cards from participating brands; 25% more value when points are redeemed using Pay Credit Card with Points to pay down eligible credit card balances; access to more value at Boston Pizza, Petro-Canada, The Shoe Company, Rexall and many other businesses and access to an exclusive limited time “Picnic Delights” food gift box offer.

Other perks for RBC’s eligible cardholders are up to 12 months of complimentary access to leading last-mile logistics platform DoorDash’s subscription program DashPass, with which “customers pay $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on eligible orders, plus receive other perks at participating stores when they order on-demand delivery and pickup from participating restaurants across Canada.”

RBC says it will be offering even more perks to its eligible cardholders in the coming weeks.
