Ice Cube releases new single with lyrical video

Actor, gangster rap pioneer, filmmaker and legendary lyricist Ice Cube has released a new single called “TRYING TO MAINTAIN” on all major music platforms. The song is accompanied by a lyrical video and an exclusive listening session.

Award-winning musician Cube is famous for his chart topping hits like “CHECK YO SELF,” “IT WAS A GOOD DAY” and “YOU KNOW HOW WE DO IT.” He is also known for N.W.A’s “STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON” and “F THA POLICE.”

Having sold more than 10 million albums and as a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Ice Cube, whose real name is O’Shea Jackson, has a list of powerful songs that reflect issues facing a skewed society. “TRYING TO MAINTAIN” is an influential echoing of 2020.

“I think this song captures how a lot of us felt in 2020 and now starting 2021,” said Cube. “We are all out here trying to maintain some resemblance of normalcy, while also looking for important progress that is generations too late.”

He added, “I have always used my music to point out the realities of our society and I will continue to speak the truth – even when it is difficult.”

Cube fans can access a special listening session at https://youtu.be/uSdosPV2Q_4.

Here is the lyrical video of Cube’s latest single:

Cube formed his first rap group, C.I.A., in 1986. The next year, he formed a pioneering gangsta rap group called N.W.A. with Eazy-E and Dr. Dre. He was also the group’s lead rapper, also writing some of Dre’s and most of Eazy’s lyrics on “STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON.”

He left N.W.A in late 1989 via financial disagreement with its management by Jerry Heller and Eazy-E. Cube then launched a solo rap career, teaming with New York artists. The first two solo albums of Cube — AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted (1990) and Death Certificate (1991) –, were critically acclaimed.
